First impressions - Singer 201-2

8/14/2012

I confess, my first impression of the 201-2 was based on looks alone.  It's not as curvy and cute as the 15-91 so I wasn't impressed.

But that all changed when I sat down to sew.  This 201-2 machine is a pleasure to use.   Smooth, quiet, and powerful.  It walked right through the leather samples and a rolled-up jeans hem with ease.

Similar to the 15-91, the 201-2 has the built-on "potted" motor with a steel
worm-gear drive.  The drop-in class 66 bobbin is easier to load than the class 15 bobbin of the 15-91.

I'm still partial to the 15-91, but the 201-2 has earned a spot on my favorites list!  It just goes to show...if you judge a book by it's cover you're probably in for a big surprise!

Happy sewing!
Barbara
